MEET THE TEAM
Bruce A. Pence Jr., D.D.S.
General Dentist
Dr. Pence is unique among his peers as he was born to a dentist and grew up in his father’s dental office. He planned to become a dentist from the age of 12 after “working for dad.” After graduating from Buena High School in Ventura he pursued an undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. From there he charged forward to attend the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California where he graduated Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Dr. Pence trained extensively in oral surgery with training in intravenous conscious sedation (IV Sedation). Dr. Pence trained under Dr. Niels Jorgensen and Dr. Stanley Malamed, pioneers in IV Sedation. Dr. Pence also won recognition for his endodontic work, the practice of saving teeth that have been traumatized or “knocked-out.” Dr. Pence’s years of experience ensure confidence.
Alma Molina, R.D.A.
Dental Assistant
Alma started with Pence Dental shortly after moving to the Town Center in the mid-1990’s. Alma has many skills that complement Dr. Pence so well that the two effectively work as one. Dr. Pence often refers to Alma as his “right hand.” Alma is bilingual in English and Spanish elevating Pence Dental’s service to the community.
Lupita Mendoza
Office Manager
Lupita started at Pence Dental well over a decade ago as a clerical member, then climbed to the top as office manager. Lupita has the authority to handle many financial, employee, and patient issues. She is in charge of office finances enabling Dr. Pence to focus on patient care. Lupita always smiles and has a polished appearance. Lupita is also bilingual in English and Spanish.
Marilyn Flores
Treatment Coordinator
Marilyn has been serving Ventura County for over 10 years at Pence Dental! Marilyn’s elegance is matched only by her sense of humor. Marilyn has skills in more areas than anyone else from the clerical to the clinical. She “wears many hats.” Marilyn has the unique ability to translate the dental treatment plan to the patients in understandable terms. She also interfaces with insurance providers.
Jennifer Arnett
Dental Hygienist
Jennifer is the newest addition to the Pence Dental family. Jennifer never thought she would become a dental hygienist prior to her experience in the dental field, as she was a farmer and sold her produce at several Bay Area Farmer’s markets. She became a dental assistant for a few years and that experience led Jennifer to decide that dental hygiene was the right pathway for her. She graduated with honors and perfect attendance from the accredited dental hygiene program at San Joaquin Valley College in Visalia, California in January, 2008. Jennifer was voted by her instructors to be awarded the distinguished “Fleeta Cutshaw Congeniality Award” for her dental hygiene class. She was also vice president of her dental hygiene class division of Student American Dental Hygiene Association for the entire program. Her classmates called on her for constant organizing of events and projects.
Jennifer is extremely passionate about helping her patients achieve optimal hygiene both orally and systemically. Her patients appreciate her drive to provide the most thorough dental cleanings and oral hygiene instructions they have ever had, every time.
Jennifer spends a lot of her spare time fishing on the ocean with her fishing club, the Dark Kings. She is vice president and chartermaster. She is a very well respected and popular angler in the fishing world. She has fished as far south as the islands The Tres Marias off of Puerto Vallarta where she caught her all time biggest fish, a 282 lb. Yellowfin Tuna, also known as a “Cow” to anglers.
